CUPE is the choice for most Manitoba health-care workers
A forced vote, by the Progressive Conservative government, for health care workers’ union representation has resulted in CUPE winning eight units, totaling 18,483 members. The vote included nurses, paramedics and hospital workers across Manitoba.
In order to lower the number of health care bargaining units per Bill 29, which was proclaimed into law in May, thousands of healthcare workers were forced to vote online and declare which union they wanted to represent them.
With the PC Government in Ontario collapsing the LHINs, creating the Health Care Super Agency and regional Health Teams, this type of forced vote is exactly what CUPE believes is in store for Health Care workers in Ontario if we don’t force Doug Ford and his Conservative Government to back down.
